Kia Boldly Unveils the Aggressively Styled Provo Concept

At this year's Geneva Motor Show there was quite an impressive array of concept models unveiled. One of the ones generating the most hype was the Kia Provo Concept, an aggressively styled hybrid sport hatchback. The automaker went all out to present this model's bold designs and innovations. We admire the creative thinking that went into the overall design, and are excited to bring all of you in the greater Cleveland area the latest details.

Let's start with the interior of the model. With modernized accents the Provo Concept features a carbon fiber dashboard, analog gauges and aluminum toggle controls and column-mounted paddle shifters. Under the hood is a hybrid turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that cranks out 201 horsepower. Its 44 horsepower electric motor kicks in when needed for all-wheel drive, and also allows for an all-electric drive mode. Power and efficiency are definitely not missing from this hatchback.

To further describe this fun to drive model, Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer at Kia's European Styling base in Frankfurt explains, "This is entirely a car for European tastes and conditions. Designed purely at our Frankfurt studios the provo was conceived as a confident and single-minded statement of dynamism and energy to deliver a new sense of fun into the B-segment. The potent shaping displays a balanced and refined outline within a compact overall shape and the tiny front and rear overhangs enhance the balance within its proportions."1

It's difficult to accurately paint a picture of the unique exterior designs. While the signature "tiger nose" grille is present, all of the other Kia parts and components are entirely outside the box for the automaker. With a visor-like windshield, frameless windows and orange accents, we certainly would love to take it for a test drive.

Unfortunately it sounds as though the Provo Concept isn't planned for production like we'd hope. Instead we can enjoy the new Kia lineup and all of the great innovations that it has to offer.
